Gorgeous photos released by NASA as reported by El Reg here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/15/pluto_hi_res_pictures_latest_new_horizons/ The "Heart" shaped area has been officially renamed Tombaugh Regio, in honor of Pluto's discoverer. The "Whale" area, on the other hand, has been officially renamed Cthulhu Regio, confirming what some of us have long suspected! The dark spot at Charon's north pole has been officially named Mordor. Good times. Starting to think I only post here as a pretext for scouring Usenet for obscure [?] groups related to Lovecraft, Ghostbusters, Harry Potter, and Tolkien.
