oric etc

analyst / programmer £15k

etc

remember the ads
phoned up "oric" I think it was
ended up working at UCL

DEC ultimate
microdata

they had their own 4GL "UDO"

price waterhouse FMS and public service systems
they went bust

then ICS

cowboy shop - arev and networks
selling all over the place - don't want to deliver
the isoft model the csc model - crooks

then I think?
dunno

poole dorset - terranova
working for jewish guy
supporting his systems linked to fax (something)
then converted royal insurance system to dec universe at DEC
actually took the tapes up there

I think I missed one there
compument - pickedi (pick on edi)
all over the country supporting installing training fixing
was even at mcdonnel douglas

shoring up the crap (pickedi)
needed a rewrite

told em at the time EDI is all its just like pick anyway
just map it onto pick

ah whatever

then the RPSB stormed through the place programming
ah well

i don't want to go into it too much that
prime information

did a lot of work
but was passed over

ideas/projects stolen from me
wasn't "favored"

dealt with an incredibly bad situation there caused by elkie holland
supplying contractors who had 0 knowledge of pick/mvdbms (prime information)

was told to train them - was giving them training sesssions

other places (there's been lots)

banking merchant banks - commercial banks - worked for major german merchant outfit
worked for a commodities broker

went contract

worked in sydney two contracts worked for credit union australia worked in two departments
resolved major problems for them - worked with major situations (visa credit card system disintegrating)

ended up in a sleepy politicized back hollow - just ended sick of it all
just wanted to walk away was just sick of it all

was offered renewal
was even given the chance of working later in australian tax office
just ended up nuts

was going back to agent there knew i'd blown it
went for a few interviews like north sydney

remember driving crazily round to find this place
met @ least 1 pick software house and one just dismal place

wasn't getting anywhere - they sensed I had just lost it
it was too hot man I remember driving through north sydney

honda accord just late late late

ah well

yer - think I got three interviews didn't get anywhere
one guy was like karl reti - theres a certain type in software

I'm thinking do I really want another situation to go back in?

eventually I did go back in out of sheer desperation - my final contract
then I was going to do degree

sussex uni - had passed year one years before (10)
I was told that anyone else they would have let them onto year two
like they didn;t let me onto year two

i'd PASSED YEAR ONE really well
10 years before - was fresh keen - unfazed
it was all easy

so I was back there
2 weeks after was in hospital

after that last contract (stomach ulceration)
it just blew it really for me - ended up drunk/stoned

it was sort of like a holiday I suppose
failed the first fucking year again

then went back zero money
was delivering pizzas

ended up just doing that
fucking delivering pizzas best job I ever had

screaming round 27 deliveries 1 night I did - only driver on
was just stoned (really) and drinking a bottle of jd every night
living in a hotel
playing online chess all night (I was subscribed)
got quite a good rating actually

had some great long matches stoned
used to get up at 4pm --

start again - cash in hand and free pizza - loved it loved the place
brighton

just excellent

damn

ah well

years later i'm working in a factory with a pump truck
and wondering what the hell happened

one time I was in the factory office and said "i'll fix your computer for you"
the agency got back to me (industrial temping) and said "don't say that to them"

i'm like ok (I used to be a programmer you know)

your knowledge your experience means nothing in this destroyed economy
destructive monopoly of microsoft
