I stopped using Mepis after 8.5, so do not know if
Mepis 11 was using KDE 4,5 Or KDE 3.5.

If you are use to using KDE 3.5,
Q4OS comes with the latest Trinty DE (KDE 3.5 kept current)

https://q4os.org/
https://q4os.org/downloads1.html

They have LiveCds you can check out, also install CDs.
I see they also have options to install
KDE5, XFCE, LXQT, Cinnamon and LXDE alternative desktop
environments options and many more. (Options available via installer)

Also they have simple frontends for a lot of configs etc.
like MX, AntiX, Mepis has.

It is aimed at GUI type users as is Mepis, MX, and Mint.
