That's just foolish. Why would people implement symmetric passwordless access? It's ignoring real world threat models. My laptop is passwordlessly accessible only from my phone, because that's how I rsync backup my phone. My phone is not passwordlessly accessible from anywhere and only has that one passwordless connection. (I don't even use "remember passwords" options for websites.) And no where is passwordlessly accessible from my laptop, because small easily stolen devices should have minimal access to other things. (My phone is small and easily stolen, too, but not likely to be stolen at the same time as my laptop.) Going out from my laptop, I make connections to a few bastion hosts, with passwords. Each of the bastions has some ability to make further outgoing passwordless connections (each in different networks), but nothing has the ability to go passwordless into the bastion hosts. And those hosts beyond the bastions? They don't get to have passwordless to anywhere. And the bastions? Those need to get security updates first. Elijah ------ hopefully even automated security updates
