I put the c drive from a win 10 PC into a USB external box on a win 7 PC to read some files of it. first I got a message saying 'loading driver software' then the USB box light started flashing away furiously and it was obvious that the drive was being accessed significantly. at this stage it wasn't showing up in windows explorer. the drive kept thrashing away and I couldn't eject it with 'safely remove hardware'. it eventually showed up in Explorer but clicking on it didn't show the contents. I was getting concerned about what might be going on, so I shut down the PC using the normal shutdown procedure. I put the drive back into the PC it belongs to and now win10 is trying to fix it. I don't see what I did wrong by simply putting it into another PC to be read. is that a no-no with windoze10 disks? both disks are formatted NTFS -- "It's not Islamophobia when they really are trying to kill you" http://www.barenakedislam.com/ http://www.thereligionofpeace.com
