I would think logging off, shutting down, or going into low-power mode (standby, hibernate) whether configured for an idle time to activate or closing the lid (for a laptop) would terminate the connection. > And second, the message I got was very clear: "TeamViewer was > connected for xx time, consider buying the full program" (I'm > paraphrasing here). That's the message they sent you on your end of a disconnected session. I'm not sure that telling you the uptime for a connection equates to telling you the connection somehow expired at that time (versus the other end doing the disconnect as noted above). When it happens again, just call your sister to find out if she logged off, shutdown, close the lid, or her computer is in low-power mode (e.g., hibernated). http://www.techbuzz.in/how-to-solve-teamviewer-commercial-use-suspected-problem.php They may suspect commercial use if you leave a connection open for hours (or anything longer than they expect for personal use). The amount of bandwidth could also be a consideration. All the time you leave that connection up there may be bandwidth for any video changes for the remote host (you didn't mention if your sister's screen was static so there were no deltas to report back to you). There also appears to be a user-configurable idle timeout setting. See: https://blog.teamviewer.com/idle-session-timeout/ which says: With TeamViewer 10, idle session timeout is a user-definable option that can be set from 30 minutes to up to eight hours. Supporters and their clients never have to worry about idle sessions remaining open. and: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/news/441-TeamViewer-10-Final-Released.aspx which mentions: New features in TeamViewer 10 * Idle session timeout I don't know on which endpoint (local or remote host) this setting is effected. Since they mention an idle session timeout feature, you need to dig into TeamViewer to see where that is.
