I'm not convinced it's a better system tho. 

Its clearly designed to minimise the number of 
checkouts operating at each time by getting the 
customers thru the checkouts as quickly as possible. 

It makes a lot more sense to have self checkouts
now an minimise the cost of the checkout apes that 
way. And Aldi is too stupid to have self checkouts.

Yep. But when our IGA opened, they had coin/tokens 
for their trolleys and gave up on those very quickly. 
You don't see very many IGA trolleys dumped,
mainly because most use Coles and Woolys instead. 

We've just had Aldi admit to building an Aldi here.
