Content used to be a lot simpler. It consisted of documents and data. Together, those two categories encompassed most of the digital information used in organizations. Lenovo Plans to Acquire IBM's x86 Server Business
Lenovo have entered into a definitive agreement in which Lenovo plans to acquire IBM's x86 server business. This includes System x, BladeCenter and Flex System blade servers and switches, x86-based Flex integrated systems, NeXtScale and iDataPlex servers and associated software, blade networking and maintenance operations. The purchase price is approximately US$2.3 billion, approximately two billion of which will be paid in cash and the balance in Lenovo stock.

IBM Reports 2013 Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year Results
IBM today announced fourth-quarter 2013 diluted earnings of $5.73 per share, compared with diluted earnings of $5.13 per share in the fourth quarter of 2012, an increase of 12 percent. Operating (non-GAAP) diluted earnings were $6.13 per share, compared with operating diluted earnings of $5.39 per share in the fourth quarter of 2012, an increase of 14 percent.

7,500 IBM Jobs Will Go To Lenovo With Unit Sale
Approximately 7,500 IBM employees around the world, including those based at major locations such as Raleigh, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Taipei, are expected to be offered employment by Lenovo. Employees had previously told Business Insider that this unit was the target of some of IBM's layoffs last summer. IBM took a $1 billion charge in 2013 for what it calls "workforce rebalancing," and some experts said that this amounted to between 6,000 and 8,000 jobs cut worldwide.

Video: Apple's Mac Celebrates 30 Years; Dell, IBM Envy Success
Apple is celebrating Mac's 30th birthday and a lot has changed over the past thirty years. Inflation is better now than it was in 1984 and the Mac is cheaper. Interest rates are much lower thanks to the Federal Reserve, even if home prices have doubled. Many computer companies like Tandy and Commodore are either gone are gobbled up by others and while Dell and IBM are still around, they are not nearly as competitive. Just surviving in today's computer world is cause for celebration.
