I have looked at the various pinouts of the Xerox 6085 and it seems as though I can create a simple adapter cable which will convert the output from the display port on the Xerox to a standard VGA signal.

The Video+ signal should go to the RGB inputs on the VGA input and the V/H sync should go to the V/H sync on the VGA input.  Some voltage adjustments need to be made since, from looking at the oscilloscope, it seems as though the Xerox's signal os +3V Low and +5V High.  It needs to be 0V Low and +5V high for VGA.

So, it appears as though companies such as Extron (who made a converter for the Xerox to output to standard VGA) created a framebuffer because they were doing a scan doubler so as to avoid flicker.  I may get to that, but simply seeing some output would be good for now.
