But logically, it just doesn't make sense to multi-post, and that's why people object. Successive messages in an Usenet thread compose a conversation. Multi-posting fragments the conversation, making it much more difficult to follow for other readers, and irritates people who answer your question in one thread, only to find that the answer is missing from the other(s). Since presumably you posted a question in order to get help and to contribute to others' Java knowledge, it just makes sense to post in a way that encourages useful responses, and helps future readers to follow along. Google around for Usenet etiquette, a.k.a. "netiquette", "asking smart questions", etc. Check out Wikipedia on the subject of multi-posting and more links.
