You made a claim. I called you on it.

And now you say you are being trolled.

Seriously, my needs are not that uncommon:

* Web development with top of the line tools such as Photoshop and
Dreamweaver.

* The ability to write papers (and receive papers) in fairly strict APA
formats (or college-specific modifications of same) in DOC/DOCX format.

* Making screencasts with a tool which allows for things such as
post-processing changes of the mouse pointer.

Of course, there are also all sorts of things I want to be done as well as
they are done on my current system, so a tool like Tofu is a must (a tool to
make reading on screen easier and better) and something that allows me to
easily find where a file is on my system (such as the path indicator of the
OS X title bar), something that allows me to drag open windows as their icon
(so I can attach a current file to email very easily, for example), etc. I
also make good use of PDF Services (which is a lot more than just print to
PDF), Automator, dragging to open and save dialogs to point them to where I
want, etc.

Not saying a replacement environment has to have those exact things - but
things that work *as well* for helping its users' efficiency. And it is
important that this be done with a reasonably well designed and coordinated
UI throughout the system - to not have that reduces efficiency and increases
the chance of errors.

And, yes, I do think the OS X environment does this better than any other
environment... and hence why Macs are well worth the money. Add to that the
fact that in comparisons, Macs cost about the same as other similar
systems... plus they have those benefits. That are a bargain.
