My apologies for not answering before.  TalkTalk cut off my Internet
access the day before your posting.  I've only got it back today.

It looks like everybody here has most of the answers now.  I think
there were some ROM versions where the CMOS save didn't work, be that
deliberate or accidental.  I hope that's all fixed now.
