There's quite a lot of text but I did not find enough detail to get my teeth into. You have a solution, but I have no idea how it might be made better, partly because I don't really know what solution you have right now. And at the detailed level there are some confusing things. Endianness is very rarely an issue but I suspect it (or something like it), is for you for reasons not yet explained. The bytes from LSB to MSB can easily be obtained by shifting and masking (and I am sure you know that) so I suspect that is not available to you for some of the data you are considering. <snip> -- Ben.
