	The question is: how "real" has this "real" to be to be "the
	deal"?

	For instance, even if a Z80-compatible CPU is used (so that the
	board could run the original software), is FDC a must?  Or are
	through-hole components?  My understanding is that switching to
	SD and SMD would result in considerable savings to the design.

	Depends on what exactly one wants to achieve, and how good the

	Inapplicable.  His point was that you don't try to "fake" a
	bigger system on a smaller one; you just get the bigger one
	instead.  My argument was, like, the other way around.

	Seriously speaking, I don't think Seymour Cray, who spent his
	entire life pushing the limits in a neverending quest for more
	and more processing power, would spend a bit of his time on a
	16-year old board.  Not that I can't understand why there's an
	interest in doing so, but it's not quite the experience one can
	enlight the others with...
