What's happening now is not much like anything that came before.
You keep refusing to see the facts in order to hold onto your
cynical worldview.

Examples pop up almost daily of how different this situation is.
Below are quotes from three eulogies given at John McCain's funeral.
Trump was playing golf that day since he wasn't welcome there.

George W. Bush:
“He was honorable, always recognizing that his opponents were still patriots and human beings. He loved freedom, with the passion of a man who knew its absence. He respected the dignity inherent in every life, a dignity that does not stop at borders and cannot be erased by dictators. Perhaps above all, John detested the abuse of power. He could not abide bigots and swaggering despots.”

Barack Obama:
“John cared about the institutions of self-government — our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, rule of law and separation of powers. … He understood that if we get in the habit of bending the truth to suit political expediency or party orthodoxy, our democracy will not work. … John understood, as J.F.K. understood, as Ronald Reagan understood, that part of what makes our country great is that our membership is based not on our bloodline; not on what we look like, what our last names are.”

Meghan McCain (McCain's daughter):
“The America of John McCain is generous and welcoming and bold. She is resourceful and confident and secure. She meets her responsibilities. She speaks quietly because she is strong. America does not boast because she has no need to. The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great.”

(The cathedral then broke into applause, not exactly a common occurrence during a eulogy.)

John McCain was a Republican senator, of course. He was also a
Republican candidate for president. Yet Republican president Trump
is not even welcome at his funeral. That shit is unlike anything that
has ever happened in our country before in sooo many ways, up to
and including our last two former presidents from BOTH parties
regularly denouncing the bum. :)

Specifically that Trumpy-boy is much worse, yes. So you seem to agree,
but then you make an exaggerated generic assertion that's irrational.
One more time: you ignore the facts just in order to hold onto your
own cynical worldview.

To state it generically as a formula: your cynical opinion always
trumps any number of facts. (Just as it does for Trump, btw.)

See, 'your opinion' is not ever in any way 'equal' to a large
well-conducted global scientific study by an unbiased organization.
Those two things just aren't in any way equal. They never will be.

And why do you do it?  Well, to repeat something important from above:
"The ultimate goal... is to rob concepts like 'facts' and 'reality' 
of their power. To reduce truth to just a position. Essentially,
'reality' becomes about picking sides."

Unfortunately, you do this almost as often as Trump does. You merely
do it in the service of a different ideology, one that is perhaps
less damaging than his is, but it's the same tactic.
