Hmm... There is the other approach, so called workaround.

And what do you think about sector-mode of HPFS ? Is it also not any use
at all because it is not independent of filesystem format ?

Without this, you cannot access over 2GB area using DASD method with
16bits IFS such as HPFS. So you cannot access over 2GB area using DASD
with HPFS386, which is not support sector-mode.

I think, you'd better make an abstraction layer for an unified access to
the volume using DASD.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you the other method to implement your
program for FAT32.

So if you don't want this method, just do not use it.

If you read all the threads, you coulud know that
DosSetFilePtr()/DosRead() worked as expected, but DosWrite().

Why do you think xxxL APIs and entry points are relevant to this problem ?

If so, can you explain how plain HPFS work even without xxxL APIs and
entry points ?
