I think that Microsoft wants to use the Apple approach and block
installs from anywhere but their own store. They seem to believe that
this approach will increase security... and it might, except that people
can get malware in Windows through venturing onto the wrong site
(www.facebook.cm for instance) without installing anything. I believe
that they will give the option to download directly from the developer
but that the user will have to disable the security setting.
