It's been a while, but I don't remember losing AppleWorks files.

I lost photos in Eudora. Breaks my heart. So make sure you save the
folder they are in somewhere or import them to a photo program if you
haven't already. It's a data folder so should easily transfer to the
newer OS. Just make sure you do it. I didn't.

Didn't have it.

I reluctantly dumped Quicken (some version) when I upgraded OSX (some
version) and they didn't precede the change. I rolled my data into
iBank, now Banktivity. 
I miss Quicken, but they can stuff it. Lagging a major Mac OS upgrade
for months was inexcusable to me. iBank imported existing data, but
they've done nothing elegant with the old stuff.

I'm sure there is. I prefer having moved on. It's worth it to me. It's
like chewing off your arm and growing a better one.
