#182980 — Tahoe Woe

FromOld John <watcombeman@yahoo.co.uk>
Date2026-03-05 10:12 +0000
SubjectTahoe Woe
Message-ID<10obkv8$3mtpe$1@dont-email.me>
I'm beginning to worry that Tahoe is unstable.

This morning I wanted to resize a window and the little arrows that appear at
the edges or corners of the screen when the pointer is in the right place.were
missing. Moving the pointer very slowly over an edge produced a brief flicker
- no more-than glimpseable.

A restart restored them, so all is well again. But other odd things have
happened, with a similar cure. This should not happen! It seems to be worse
since 26.3 came along, or maybe I'm becoming more sensitised. But I've had to
do quite a few Restarts, whereas I cannot remember Sequoia ever needng
Restarting.

Not good.

The is an M4 iMac, so it's not on it's last legs by any means.

Not seen that here with Tahoe. There is a 26.3.1 update available now.

Alas, no. I tried the corner, and when that failed I tried the edge. This is
where I saw the tiny flick of something, but no arrow appeared. I was, with
care, able to extend the window sideways. It was at this point I made my
original post.
The restart brought the arrows back, and they are still there - all edges, all
corners.

God makes power, Man makes engines.

Never seen and I really love 26.3.1.
It starts quicker than ever.

Two things I dislike about Tahoe:

I hate the screensaver. It makes me feel cold, so I've set it back to the Muir
woods.

More seriously, there is a problem with dragging files to a folder. If you
have a Finder window in list view containing files and folders and you drag
one file vertically onto a folder it doesn't go in - it just springs back
(unless you hold it for a few seconds until the folder opens). The workaround
seems to be to drag the file to the right so it's clear of the title column,
then vertically to the line where the folder is, then left over the folder
icon before releasing.
