Hi,

A mate buys pallets of s/h tech, often compact PC's, laptops, netbooks
and Chromebooks and even mixed electrical goods, often customer returns
and company / education upgrades.

One such was a (data blank) Dell Chromebook 3100 that appears to have
some sort of 'Admin developers block' that seems to stop it from being
fully factory restored and re-used?

He seems to think it's not worthy of any further effort and he will
probably sell it for parts, suggesting it can't be easily unlocked,
something about such locks being stored in Googles servers?

Can anyone confirm this is the case please, interested minds etc?

Cheers, T i m

If there is someone you really dislike, give them a chromebook. I had
one witha really bad keyboard, so got rid of it by giving it to a
relative on her birthday, later I was in hospital and when I escaped, my
daughter drove me home and stopped at a box-shifter for a quick message,
came out.##

"Here is something to amuse your self with, dad", and had bought me the
worst chromebook ever, an Acer Chromebook.

I have a brand new and boxed Chromebook upstairs somewhere that I think
suggested was on it's last update the last time I ran it up. ;-(

Aww, bless. Hey, it's the thought that counts. ;-)

'Powerwash a managed Chromebook'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LaKO8tKqaY

'How to unenroll a managed Chromebook'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGytWRruYtM

There is also a developer mode - search for details for how to turn that on
and off. Although I don't think that will stop you doing anything.

Yeah, I did that whilst playing and whilst it 'worked', it still seemed
to be linked to someone (a school).

That looks more promising and will give it a go (I brought the
Chromebook away to play on the grounds I couldn't make it worse and he
could still sell it for parts). ;-)

That was the bit I was up against and did find something with a load of
CLI incantations but it also involved getting inside.

Other than being able to un-enroll it easily it seems?
