Odd and ed will both refuse to attempt an answer on that one. Fractals is the answer- the scaling is the same because everything is part of the larger whole.

that does not cohere linguistically; every problem is really a wordproblemma, of course. I just found some old formula for trigons, and the ones for the sphere are all very nice. seeing as all planar sections of quadric surfacees are conic sections, what are the loci of the foci & antifoci? that is a term I coined for Marc Franz's dyscovery about the ellipse > When constructing a sphere > by precessing a rotating disc > it is found that a precession > of twice the rotation results in > every point and it's anti-point > on the disc pairing up in their > own unique pathway through > the sphere. > (Anti-point my jargon for point > exactly on the other side of Center)

Food for thought. I studied fractals, via C-programming, still skim through the books I have. Unfortunately, I lost the floppy disks of SW code that came with the books. I've also got no floppy disk drive readers either anywhere. Anymore. Yes, I do know I can find fractal SW code over the Internet these days. The holographic universe concept of all data being stored at all levels/scales I know a little about. I once saw a demonstration of a holographic disk for storing data, presented by Russian Scientists. The Universe being Fractal, Holographic, Stringy, or Loopy? I'll not ever know, but my bets are on Loopy, for obvious reasons. He he... I gather these are the kind of ideas that now make Physics a Liberal Art. -- Mahipal == माहिपाल ... Hey genius. Tell me. My glass is still empty! Give me the true scoop since I haven't had a good laugh yet today! Folks, note that HVAC's level of science is only to name the 4 forces. All other details are missing. Christ! Even Carl Sagan could do that much!

Why do you think that nuclear forces determine orbitals? Clown shoes.

I think the main thing to point out here is that when YOU say "This is the only way I can think of", it means zilch, because you are so bound by the limits of what you think is possible that you cannot actually learn anything new. You want the comfort of believing that everything fits inside of what you presently know. This is unfortunately dismally wrong. -- Odd Bodkin -- maker of fine toys, tools, tables

Odd "Atom in a Box, John. " Please explain how "atom in a box" shows how two electrons play "follow the leader" in a filled orbital. Or do you say they don't move symmetrically?

An electron orbital is a wave function, with a related probability function of how the charge is distributed/likelyhood of interacting with the electron. >Or do you say they don't move symmetrically? Who says they even move? Again, you're mistakenly trying to apply your macroscopic experiences to a quantum mechanical system.

This answer would have been already known to you if you had bothered to READ anything on the subject, rather than just taking sound snippets like "filled orbital" and then MAKING UP what you think that means. -- Odd Bodkin -- maker of fine toys, tools, tables
