Was that a rule you just made up?

Just as I said. You wanted people to think you were quoting Einstein 
when you stuffed words in his mouth, but wanted a way to slither out of 
it if someone called you on it, so you could claim you didn't quote him.

Not that it matters, your track record here on Einstein is awful, and 
others here all know it.

In Copy-Editing, Judith Butcher points out that some writers have their own system of quotation marks, e.g., 
double quotation marks for speech and single quotation marks for thoughts.
