No, I did *not* say the center of the earth thousands of miles below our feet. The center of the *surface* of the Earth. You should be able to take a globe and put your finger on the spot, or just tell me the latitude/longitude of whereever it is. Of course, you'll have to tell me why the center is the center. As to expansion, repeat the same thing with a balloon, where is the center of its surface, and why. Imagine that balloon being blown up, getting larger and larger. Does that change the answer? Why?
