It's kind of like the difference between:
"relation algebra (with no nulls)"
and
"like a relational algebra, except with nulls, and rows", 
that "material" "implication" is because "nulls".

Now, the notion of "like relational algebra except with nulls and rows", 
is very flexible, but it lacks certain completions that "relational algebra" 
does not, all "inner joins", and conversely, has "outer joins", and what 
results explosion of cases to get completeness.

... That it reflects incompleteness in the model with nulls or here 
the "vacuity of the incomplete", and of course "all about strong types", 
that "null" has "none", and like, "not a number", "not a thing".

(Relational algebra with rows and nulls also helps detail the cases 
of the application of NOT, in expressions or conditions in the 
"like relational algebra, except with rows and nulls", vis-a-vis 
the affirmatory, or without NOT, vis-a-vis the constructivist.)

Of course "null" has various ways to assign it semantics or conventions, 
about that "material"  "implications ... of null" can otherwise be altogether 
separated from "direct implications" the lack thereof.

Then, that ordering doesn't matter in the introduction of terms, 
nor does duplication, in the classical propositional logic with 
direct implication and always meaningful contrapositive, 
in derivation rules, basically makes things un-decideable if 
the order of their introduction is unknown, in the "material implication", 
while instead it can be sorted when it's only, "direct implication".

So, it's not so much that "the derivations are sorted", as, 
"the derivations are sortable".  (And always move in transit.)
