Here Sartre is describing the rhetoric of the anti-Semite and there is no doubt
that the description is applicable to Mückenheim's mental state. However,
he oversimplifies the aberration: "... they know that their remarks are frivolous ...".
Of course, on some level Mückenheim 'knows' that the nonsense he concocts
is nonsense; but on another level he 'knows' that there is a conspiracy that needs
to be exposed.       

Sartre also said that '“If the Jew did not exist, the anti-Semite would invent him.”
Again, this is applicable to Muckmeatics. Anti-semitism in Germany became a
persistent aberrant state of mind, even though the Jewish population in Germany
never exceeded 1%, and even though the Jews in Germany were model citizens.

The muckmeatical analogy: Mückenheim is the quintessential quack and could
 just as easily seek another Windmill to fight - pro-Shakespeare, anti-Einstein,
Millenarianism, anti-Semitism, or whatever else. It's a pathological state of mind
and has nothing to do with mathematics, of which Mückenheim is almost completely
ignorant.
