The sun doesn't have a single magnetic pole. It has lots of complicated 
magnetic structures in the solar corona, none of which are influenced by 
the earth - though magnetic storms in the solar corona can influence the 
earth.

The earth does rotate around it's own axis. It is also in an elliptical 
orbit around the sun.
