Hi Bastian

It doesn't, but a function call on PowerPC requires a nop instruction
after the branch instruction, which looks a lot like a delay slot. [1]

The extra space is needed to manage the "TOC" that's particular to the
PowerPC architecture.

I am sorry you were offended. It was not a ghost to me. I could not
think of a better place to ask than on -powerpc when porting my
software.

By the way, I did not notice until now that you copied debian-project on
your response (or that your response triggered the broader AI discussion
in the project in which I then participated).

My initial email to -powerpc unequivocally expressed skepticism about
the AI-generated materials, but I simply read everything that I thought
might help me to resolve an obscure linker error.

I never submitted an AI-generated contribution. In fact, I have never
used an AI chatbot.

Thank you to Richard Lewis for interpreting my original message in a
friendly way.

Kind regards
Felix

P.S. I do not subscribe to either of the lists.
