I noticed that repository, but it was for a really old release and never
finished/uploaded as far as I could tell. Compare debian/rules, they
are wildly different due to how upstream evolved. I found it easier to
start from scratch than trying to fix the old package and then update it
to the latest upstream version.

I am happy to team maintain things. I wasn't part of the Python team
when I wrote the e-mail below, but I am now. My repository below has
been moved to:

https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/python-tuf/

I uploaded it to NEW yesterday. Don't let that stop you (or anyone
else) from adding themselves to Uploaders and start improve the
packaging, I am looking for help here! We should be prepared to roll a
minimal-changes upload to NEW in case ftp-master's find a problem with
the package though. So I would suggest pushing changes to a new
debian/experimental branch for simplicity. Regardless of workflow, it
will be possible to sort things out later.

/Simon
