Package: wnpp Severity: normal X-Debbugs-CC: debian-python@lists.debian.org I intend to adopt the 'platformio' package. https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/platformio https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/platformio This package was previously included in the Debian repositories years ago, but was removed due to being outdated and non-functional. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1080046 I was unable to find an "O" or "RFA" bug for this package. My goals: - Upgrade PlatformIO to the latest upstream version, v6.1.18 - Align GBP config with dual-sourced pypi tarball + git tag workflow - Document upstream-upgrade process for easier maintenance - Align packaging with Debian Policy / Standards - Address missing dependencies (ajsonrpc) - Submit platformio packages to Debian FTP What I have done: - Contacted the debian-python mailing list - Secured a Debian Mentor, Otto Kekäläinen (otto@debian.org) - Submitted MRs to the PlatformIO Salsa repository https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/platformio/-/merge_requests pending review https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1050212 blocker 1050212 Justification: PlatformIO 6.x has introduced a dependency on ajsonrpc -- Austin Lane
