...and also note: much of the guidance on that page has been
superseded by functionality in dpkg; it may still be useful as
history/context, but the current workflows are documented in:

(apologies if I'm duplicating things you both already know.. I'm
trying to get a grasp for what options the current tooling provides
for this)
