n the one hand Testing ans Unstable stretch with systemd on Intel two prozessor 3 GHz,4 GB RAM on the other hand Knoppix 501 on a machine with 1GHz CPU with 1 GB RAM. Both comming to "login" at the same time. No X on any machine. Right, the is much more to do on the more powerfull one, but the systemd should be quite fast. Stripped down and using LFS coud bringing up it withinf 17 seconds, but I myself didn't test it. Man pages are very helpfull and writen to be understood easily. The articles from Pöttering on his homepage are not at all well sorted but written clealy and with great engagement. I didn't find any instruction for clearing if somrthing is going wrong. The instrction at Debian are still more poor.
