Sorry, when editing the file to reduce the testcase, I forgot
the trailing empty line (for most Mutt versions, at least the
official ones, this line does not matter). See the new attached
select-display.mbox file.

BTW, I can reproduce the bug with a very old xterm 351 on a
different machine. This is really strange I had never noticed
it before.
