Solution for multipart/related Bug #881411?

Hi,
I'm looking for a solution for VM Bug #881411
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/vm/+bug/881411) 
"Incorrect processing of multipart/related"

I'm currently using vm 8.2.0a, where the CID is not displayed.
The CID is also not displayed in the released 8.2.0b.

I also pulled the latest 8.2.x release from launchpad as described in
the README (which also announces as 8.2.0b, but has different code than
the 8.2.0b release), but it also does not show the CID.

From the bug description I got the impression that this was resolved in
2012, but did not understand which variable I would have to set in my
.emacs.

Could anyone elaborate on this?
