Mal ganz doof gefragt: Warum machst Du nicht einfach eine ein ganz
normales EFI-Boot System?
Da brauchst Du den Bootloader (z.B. eben grub-efi) einfach nur auf der
Systempartition abwerfen und Thema erledigt. Kein Gehampel wie früher
mit chroot und lilo, kein Gebastel am MBR.
Einfach nur umkopieren. Schlimmstenfalls gibt es etwas Gemecker beim
ersten Start von Grub, weil die UUIDs in den hints der Grub config nicht
mehr stimmen. Aber Starten tut das dann normalerweise.
Oder man nimmt einfach eine minimale Config ohne Hints statt einfach nur
eine vorhandene umzukopieren.

Rechner ohne (U)EFI gibt es seit Jahren nicht mehr zu kaufen und alles,
was nicht völlig alt ist, kann damit normalerweise ganz gut umgehen.
