Another minor quibble, but Helios (the Oxide variant of illumos) is not based on SmartOS, but rather started with OmniOS CE. In many regards, the host OS is a bit of an implementation detail for Oxide hardware, though it is true that we use a lot of functionality from the base OS (zones, ZFS, etc). In my opinion, the holistic boot approach and minimization of firmware is more interesting. - Dan C.
