Well, that worked (and used grep to filter), but all the events there related to the 4 external disks occur after the computer booted up again. Thanks again. The syslog is still there, though, and as always, contains a heck of a lot of suggestions to stop calling deprecated functions. Unfortunately, most of the programs using these functions are Apple's!
