He probably hasn't contacted his clients yet or they don't know about the bugs or don't use all apps.

How did you determine that the correct characters were hiding behind those spots? Sierra didn't cause me any problems with my Apple ID. In fact, it actually fixed a problem. I started getting spam at the Apple ID address, so I created a new address for it. I probably should have logged out of everything first (if I could even remember what was logged in) because one or more items (I've already forgotten which) kept asking for the password and rejecting it because it was using the old ID. Even though the password did not change, it wasn't valid for an account that no longer exists. Sierra did however, put a few preferences I had changed back to their defaults. The only other problem I've noticed is that after working for a while in LibreOffice Calc or Writer, suddenly *every* operation produces a spinning beachball for half a minute or more before doing what was wanted. Other apps seem to work fine while I wait for LibOff. And quitting LibreOffice and relaunching fixes it. So it's probably not Apple's fault, but it's interesting that it started about the time I upgraded.
