What privacy? If the government can find someone else to do it, so can
other malplayers.

I think the operative word there is "if"...

Funny how right before the hearing was to take place, the government
magically found a way to do what they said they couldn't do.

If you saw this on a TV show, you'd think it was lame.

The article doesn't say that. It's a done deal. The Israelis did it.

Are you also into Area 51 "aliens," Roswell, and Bigfoot? Do you think
this is a government hoax or lie? There was no magic. The FBI has been
pursuing other means to penetrate that phone at least since Apple
balked, probably before that. They succeeded with outside help and that
help did not come from ET or Bigfoot. Try to get a grip on reality.
Nelson's statement may be taken at face value.

We know *for* *a* *fact* that the government LEAs have lied to the
American People and their elected representatives repeatedly and
consistently. Anyone who believes the FBI just because they are a
government agency is a delusional fool.

> There was no magic. The FBI has been pursuing other means to penetrate
> that phone at least since Apple balked,

They told the court they had pursued all avenues and there was no
possible way to get into the phone without Apple.

> Nelson's statement may be taken at face value.

The Director of the FBI sat in front of Congress and repeated the lie
he'd told the court, that the case was about a single phone. This was a
lie from the beginning and it wasn't until after testifying before
Congress that the FBI admitted there were at least "hundreds" of other
phones.

Then they lied about that to the court.

the fbi claimed that they tried 'everything' and the only way was for
apple to help.

then out of the blue, a solution magically appeared just hours before
the hearing.

that means that fbi clearly did *not* try everything, and when grilled
at the hearing, james comey even said he hadn't actually tried
everything, thereby contradicting his own testimony.

what really happened was that the fbi realized their legal arguments
were very weak and that they'd lose, which would set a precedent
*opposite* to what they wanted. they *had* to back down.

Yup. I have a lot of doubt that they've actually found anything.

nothing other than cat videos :)

what people keep forgetting is that this was his *work* phone.

he *destroyed* his and his wife's personal phones and the hard drive in
his computer. that's where the good shit was.

he *left* the work phone untouched. why would he do that if there was
something to hide??

not only that but the fbi *has* the icloud backups for the work phone,
so they know exactly what's on it. it's just not as recent as they
would like.

And they ordered San Bernardino County to change the iCloud password...

...I think to precipitate the situation where they could pressure Apple.

And the work phone wasn't even OWNED by them... it belonged to the county.

Why put secret terrorist info on a phone you don't even own, when you
can put it on phones you do?

I think the FBI lied. I think they wanted a way into every phone, and
were using this case as a vehicle.
It's actually the LEAST conspiratorial read on the situation.

Get a grip? That's good advice for YOU, my friend. The government was
ready to go to the Supreme Court... but, somehow, miraculously found a
way into the phone the day before the next hearing was to take place.

Bullshit. They pushed it as far as they could, and cut their losses
when they knew they'd lose the case - and shut the door forever on that
avenue.

Nothing conspiratorial about it. It's the pragmatic interpretation
based on what actually happened.

You seem upset? Why? This in a nutshell is about finding terrorists and
keeping people safe. Only idiots would disagree with this. There will be
another terrorist attack.

Thank you, Nostradamus, for this insightful prediction. Who would have

I predict it will also rain somewhere, someday... so we're all doomed.
