Message-ID<10colhi$3qk3l$2@dont-email.me>
Hello,

Since Apple and MS recently ended their supports for macOS Ventura
v13.7.8, I need to upgrade macOS. I'm not touching the new recent
version since it just came out and has many issues. Is macOS Sequoia
v15.7.1 good in 2020 13" Intel MBP?

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

MS?

You haven't provided the exact spec of your MBP.

Sequoia is compatible with that model according to Apple Support.

<https://support.apple.com/en-gb/120282>

I don't know which Tahoe issues concern you but wait a few months and
they may well be resollved.

Here's trhe compability list from Apple.

I now own this iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)

I have installed macOS Sequoia

I can no longer print with my ancient Canon MG5350

I CAN print from my M1 MacBook Air running macOS Tahoe and can also
print from an iMac running macOS Ventura or from my iPhone and iPad.

Is there a known bug with macOS Sequoia which is preventing the use of
my printer?

Advice welcomed. TIA.

Two shots in the dark:
1. uninstall the Canon software on the non-working iMac and then re-add
the printer.

2. upgrade the AirPrint firmware on MG5350:

John

Thank you *so* much for your helpful suggestions.

I did try 1. above - sadly, to no avail. :-(

This was the instruction I received from the downloaded information
(provided at your link):-

*Check Whether Update is Necessary*

You can check whether an update is required by printing the nozzle check
pattern.

Check whether the software (firmware) version "Ver. X.XXX" is printed in
the nozzle check pattern print results.
If the firmware version is printed and is Ver. 2.000 or later

Firmware update is not necessary.

If the firmware version is printed and is earlier than Ver. 2.000, or if
the firmware version is not printed

Firmware update is necessary. Update according to "Firmware Version
Update Procedure" described below.

Note
For instructions on printing the nozzle check pattern, refer to the
on-screen manual that comes with the printer.

=

Here is confirmation that I do NOT need to update my firmware:-

https://i.ibb.co/zVZDm0sR/IMG-4699.jpg

=

Had I needed to update, I'd have needed to connect my printer with a USB
cable. If I'd actually HAD a USB cable I wouldn't need to use the Air
Print facility anyway! <wink>

I did reinstall Sequoia (from Internet Recovery) but that made no
difference either.

I can only conclude (as supported by Gemini AI) that there must be a
'bug' in Sequoia which was overcome by Tahoe. Sadly, this computer is
now classified as Vintage, so I cannot install macOS Tahoe.

Thank you once again for trying to help. 😊

David

Always the same song with each major macOS release.

I have MacOS 15.7.1/iPadOS 18.7.1 on everything here.

I never jump on the latest version. Of anything. It is always amusing to see
the questions here (and other places) along the lines of "I just upgraded to
x.0.0 and now this is happening/not working/how do I change that...".

I always wait until x.2.1 or so. Because there is no rush. Everything I have
is running just fine.

I have a couple iPad mini 5s and iPad Air 3s that - surprisingly - are
compatible with 26. But 18 was noticeably slower than 17. I may just forget
26 on these.
