Amazingly, California being so efficient, it brought a lot of landfill overnight to reclaim the land now into ocean and rebuilt Los Angeles exactly as it was before it sank into the Ocean and nobody really noticed. So the end of the world can't be all that bad :-) I think television even continued uninterrupted which says a lot about Hollywood being disaster tolerant. (according to documentaries, there have been a LOT of disasters in Los Angeles, so they would be used to surviving them by now).

The Mayan calendar bollocks was misreported reportedly due to being:
- a mistake by the "experts" reading it because they
a whole section that came after that supposed "end
date"
- not actually the "end of the world", but simply
the end of a calendar cycle.
Besides the world had already ended before that when all the computers
"crashed" because they couldn't handle the Y2K bug" ... everybody
crashed their cars because traffic lights didn't work, they got stuck
in elevators because they didn't work, etc. ;-)
