And with 10.11 also a shitty interface.

Programmers are very particular aboout screen real estate
management. If you want to piss off a programmer move something
on the screen a pixel. MacOS 10.11 knows WHAT you want better
than you do and is constantly moving and resizing windows.

Heh.

Hasn't that always been the knock against Apple? The "one right way"
of doing things?

For some fraction of the market, the "Apple way" is great. But most
people like more freedom and flexibility.

only from people who do not understand anything about apple.

What idiotic lunacy!

Free software has been around forever. Check this:

https://gams.nist.gov/

GAMS has been around for decades and is used by all government
labs and major corps as well.

Even mighty Intel is now giving away for free the ICC compiler
and math kernel libraries:

Exactly. If anything, for most common tasks there is more choice on macOS.

Xcode broke regexp find and replace. It takes diligence to break
what had been working fine for quite a while.

One of the things I like about macOS is how you can do things in much the same
way you can on Windows and Linux, but you ALSO can do things in other -- often
more streamlined -- ways.

That is how I feel about Linux. For some things it is great, but I want more
flexibility for the system.
