Quite the opposite.

The whole point of Metal is to generate code that is leaner than 
OpenCL/GL to access the GPU so you not only get the "co-processing" 
benefit of the GPU, the CPU cost of doing so is less than with OpenCL/GL.

Note that even OpenCL/GL come in versions and so older GPU's might not 
support the OpenCL/GL code one wants to use.
