The only time clearing caches can help is when there is a specific
problem that can be attributed to faulty cached data. In fact, deleting
caches for no good reason will slow down your machine because those
caches must be rebuilt by the system, which is why you should always try
to figure out the root cause of a problem before blindly throwing the
kitchen sink at the problem and hoping it will magically vanish.

gtr mentioned the problem is a wireless networking performance issue. If
so, he should concentrate his diagnostic actions to examining how the
problem computer is connecting tot he wireless network.

Your suggestion that he examine the WiFi menu by option-clicking it was
a good one. I have to wonder if he's bothered to even look.
