Yep, 10.7 and 10.8 were both transitional releases, each with their own set of nasty bugs and feature inconsistencies, especially with regard to iCloud integration, which was just ramping up at the time. 10.9 and 10.10 were much better, but also had some particularly troublesome issues with networking.
