Here's a lengthy thread about it: <https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5556541> It definitely doesn't affect most of us though. I have aliases to file server volumes listed in the favorites section of my Finder sidebar on several machines running various versions of OS X that never go away, even if the volume is not mounted for extended periods. And I work with people who have the same experience (it works correctly). So it doesn't affect many of us. According to some reports from those bitten by this bug, restarting the file server can have the effect of making the items re-appear on the side bar. You might try that to see if that's the case for you. Others have reported that mounting the shared volumes at login (via System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items) fixes the issue for their users. Some report that simply restarting the Finder restores missing favorites. Worth a shot. > Is there a way to make those "sticky" so they never disappear ? I suppose you could try locking the Finder sidebar property list, but the symptoms of the bug tell me that probably won't have any effect. It sounds to me like the items aren't removed from the property list (since merely restarting the file server has the effect of making them re-appear for some people, reportedly). Personally, if this bug bit me, I would just create a folder in my Documents folder called "Servers" or something like that, put a bunch of aliases in that folder, and then add that folder to the sidebar. Another option is to put that folder in the Dock. > If I created a soft link in my home directory pointing to > /Volumes/server-disk/server-directory", could I then add that to the > sidebar at which point I am guessing it would stay ?
