I'll let someone that has real experience in developement to come along 
and comment.  But I've read many comments over the years both from those 
complaining when something breaks, and others coming in and explaining 
that it was documented changes that caused it.  Those doing the 
explaining were also keeping up with the beta versions all along and that 
could very well be the issue.

And yes, Apple does leave broken programs behind and that is because they 
aren't locked into all that legacy software support that has helped make 
Windows the mess that it is.  There have been many arguments made that MS 
should have been cleaning that up for a long time.  MS of course feared 
that the business community would howl.
