Recently my Applications folder has been getting too cluttered, and I decided to group the apps into subfolders. However, this had at least two (2) unpleasant consequences: 1) I moved Address Book into a subfolder in Utilities (in Applications). I then found that, although Address Book itself still worked, previously-written Address Book AppleScripts (include the Apple-written Import Addresses) would not now compile. Moving Address Book back into Applications fixed the problem. 2) I moved the plethora of apps constituting Adobe CS3 into an Adobe subfolder. When I fired up Bridge, it complained that it had been moved, and offered to make repairs. Then it crashed (or rather, unexpectedly quit). Again, moving everything back cured the problem. This is on a G4 running 10.4.11; I haven't yet tried it on my MacBook with CS4 running Snow Leopard. OK, so maybe CS is a port of a PC version that hard-code paths. But Address Book is Apple. I thought apps weren't supposed to care where they were. Or did that feature go away with OS 9? Paul Magnussen
