The Mac does that with the menu and with lots of other transparent areas. I
personally do not like it, but you cannot be granular with where you turn
off transparency. The big pet peeve I have with it is in Safari where if you
have a flashing / moving ad or video and scroll it off the "top" of the
window you STILL see it if it is in your toolbar area. I have that rather
tall because I have bookmarks and the like there.
