Pretty much... but the Simple Public License offers similar IP protections
to the GPL 2.0 WITHOUT the nonsense wording and philosophical BS in the GPL
preamble:

To each their own, but I would NEVER publish my own work under the GPL
unless I had to (if it was based on other work with its IP protected by the
GPL).

Since the terms are pretty much the same, I wonder if it would be legal to
license GPL protected code under the Simple License? I doubt it... but am
not a lawyer. It does say the TERMS have to be the same, which they would be
legally, but you would get around that idiotic preamble. I would certainly
check with a lawyer before I ever did that if the need came up.
