OK, I tried Live Photos on my new iPhone 6S Plus. First thing I realized is that to view the motion, I have to use 3D Touch, just touching the screen isn't enough. According to what I've read, in order to view the motion on an iDevice other than the 6S series, it has to be running iOS 9 (or later) and all you need to do is press and hold; I can't get that to work on my iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.1 beta. Apple also says that you can view the motion on a Mac that's running El Capitan, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. Has anyone figured that out yet?
